The re-cooling cooling- water circuit is designed as open cooling –water circuit and feeds cooling water to the following main consumers:
- Re-cooling of heat exchangers for EAF/LF, cooling water circuit
- Re-cooling of heat exchangers for EAF/LF /Aux, cooling water circuit
- Re-cooling of heat exchangers for CCM mold.
- Re-cooling of heat exchangers for CCM spray cooling water circuit
The open noncontact cooling –water circuit is a cold-water circuit where no direct process related contamination occurs. The cooling –water circuit is re-cooled by means of open cooling towers. The hot return water from the plate heat exchangers is conveyed directly to the cooling towers.
After re-cooling, the cooling water is collected the cold-water basin underneath the cooling towers. the re-cooling pump station is additionally equipped with a stand –by pump. The cooling water is treated with biocide. Water samples are to be taken and analyzed at regular intervals .
Instrumentation for the indication of cooling –water temperatures is installed and controlled by PLC .Make up water from the Make –up –water system is automatically refilled to compensate water losses caused by evaporation and lowdown water. In order to fulfill the requirement of the process equipment in case of current break down we have foreseen following concept:
- Emergency cooling water supply for the EAF panels.
- Emergency cooling water supply for mold.
